In the Alpen Express train there are 3 different types of carriages, namely:
- Lig-6 carriage, which has room for up to 6 people per compartment
- Sleeping car carriage, which has room for up to 3 people per compartment
The train steward accompanies you on your journey and will bring you snacks or drinks upon request, prepare your breakfast (if booked), prepare your compartment for the night and answer all your questions.
Breakfast is included at sleeping cars. New in 2023: breakfast is now also included at Lig 6!
Content of breakfast:
Gingerbread, butter, strawberry yoghurt, cracker, strawberry jam, cheese spread, cake, 1 croissant and coffee or tea.
Each compartment can accommodate up to 6 people. There are 6 comfortable chairs in the compartment, which can be converted into sleeping places in the evening. There are 3 beds on each side of the compartment. Beneath the couchette benches, there are steps and a long table (which can be used to have a snack or play a game). You can store your luggage under the benches or above the door. Pillows, sheets and blankets are included. Breakfast is not included (can be added when booking).
In addition, you have the option of locking the compartment at night. In the corridor of this coach, there are 3 washrooms and 2 separate toilets. Bookings are possible per single seat (then you have a shared compartment that others can also book in) or you can book it as a private compartment. If you would like to book this compartment, please note that the carriage usually does not have power outlets, so it is advisable to bring a power bank.

This is the most luxurious carriage on the Alpen Express. There is room for up to 3 people in each compartment and each compartment has its own washbasin (including an electrical socket). We also provide you with a towel, soap and a small cup of water. We are happy to help you unfold the beds, as they are quite heavy. The beds all have a real mattress and duvet so you can lie in comfort. In this compartment, the beds are already made up for you when you unfold them. There is also a closet in the compartments where you can store your coats and luggage separately.
The entire carriage is climate controlled and you have the option of locking your compartment at night. There are 2 toilets in the corridor of this coach. Breakfast is included in the booking of a sleeping car compartment; the stewards will bring it to you in the morning. A sleeping car compartment can only be booked as a private compartment.
